AI Data Intake & Contract

Twelve questions to ask about a data source in discovery, before an AI feature is built on it, then the contract its producer and the AI team agree. One copy per source.

What’s inside

  • Intake questions. Owner, permission, sensitivity, meaning, freshness, known problems, representativeness, access, retention, lineage and failure impact, each marked blocker or risk.
  • Data contract. Parties and responsibilities, schema with meanings, and quality and freshness checks with what happens on failure.
  • Change, access and retention. Notice before breaking changes, access carried into the AI feature, deletion including indexes and logs.
  • Decision. Go, go with conditions, or no-go, with owners and dates.

How to use it

  1. Fill the intake with the data's owner in the room.
  2. Stop at any blocker you can't answer.
  3. Agree the contract with the producing team, then put its checks in the pipeline.
  4. Revisit it when the source, owner or purpose changes.
