Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ShiftQuality ("we," "us," "our") handles information when you visit www.shiftquality.com (the "Site").
The short version: ShiftQuality is a free, publicly readable library of articles and learning resources. You do not need an account to read anything, and we do not ask you for personal information in order to use the Site. What we do collect is standard, aggregate analytics about how pages are used — plus whatever you choose to send us if you get in touch.
We do not sell your personal information.
1. Who We Are
ShiftQuality publishes educational content about software quality, testing, and delivery. The Site is operated from the United States and hosted on the Wix platform.
For any privacy question, contact allwesternsky@gmail.com.
2. Information We Collect
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, certain technical information is collected automatically by our hosting and analytics providers:
-
Device and browser data — browser type and version, operating system, screen and device type, and language settings.
-
Network data — your IP address (often truncated or anonymized by the analytics provider) and approximate location derived from it, typically at the country or city level.
-
Usage data — which pages you view, when you viewed them, how long you stayed, how you scrolled or clicked, and which page or search referred you to us.
-
Cookies and similar technologies — small files and identifiers stored by your browser. See Section 4.
This information is used in aggregate. We use it to understand which articles are useful, find broken or slow pages, and decide what to write next. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.
Information you give us
-
Contact. If you email us or use a chat or contact feature on the Site, we receive whatever you choose to include — typically your name, email address, and the content of your message.
-
Downloads and forms. Some resources may ask for an email address before download. Where they do, the form will say what the address will be used for. Providing it is always optional; you can simply not download that resource.
We ask you not to send us sensitive personal information — government identifiers, health information, financial account details, or similar — through the Site or by email.
What we do not collect
We do not process payments through the Site, and we do not collect payment card details. We do not knowingly collect information from children (see Section 9).
3. How We Use Information
We use information for these purposes only:
-
Operating the Site — serving pages, keeping the Site secure and available, and diagnosing errors.
-
Understanding usage — aggregate analytics on which content is read, from where, and on what devices.
-
Improving content — deciding what to write, update, correct, or retire.
-
Responding to you — replying to emails, chat messages, and requests you send us.
-
Legal and security — preventing abuse, enforcing our Terms, and complying with legal obligations.
Under the GDPR, our legal bases are: legitimate interests (operating, securing, and improving the Site, and replying to your enquiries), consent (for non-essential cookies and analytics, where consent is required in your jurisdiction), and legal obligation where applicable.
4. Cookies and Analytics
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for two things:
-
Essential cookies, set by our hosting platform, which are required for the Site to load, remain secure, and function correctly. These cannot be turned off through the Site.
-
Analytics cookies, which record anonymized, aggregate information about page visits and navigation so we can see which content is working.
Your choices. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you refuse cookies entirely or alert you before one is set. Blocking essential cookies may cause parts of the Site to stop working. You can also enable your browser's "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal; where we are legally required to honor such a signal as an opt-out, we do.
Where a cookie banner is presented on the Site, your choices there govern which non-essential cookies are set.
5. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Information is shared only in these situations:
-
Service providers. The Site is built and hosted on Wix.com Ltd., which processes technical and analytics data on our behalf as part of providing hosting, security, forms, chat, and site analytics. Wix's own handling of that data is described in the Wix Privacy Policy.
-
Legal requirements. If we are required to by law, subpoena, court order, or a valid governmental request, or where disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, safety, or property, or that of others.
-
Business transfer. If the Site or its assets are transferred to another party, information may transfer with it. You would be notified of any such change here.
6. International Transfers
We operate from the United States, and our hosting provider processes data in the United States and other countries. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection law may differ from that of your own country. Where transfers of EU/UK personal data occur, our providers rely on approved transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How Long We Keep Information
-
Analytics data is retained in aggregate for as long as it remains useful for understanding Site performance, and is subject to our hosting provider's own retention periods.
-
Email and chat correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterward for reference, then deleted.
-
Form submissions are kept for the purpose stated on the form, and deleted when that purpose ends or on your request.
8. Security
We rely on our hosting provider's security infrastructure, which includes encryption of traffic in transit (HTTPS) across the Site. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send confidential information to us by email.
9. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for a professional adult audience. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at allwesternsky@gmail.com and we will delete it.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
-
access the personal information we hold about you;
-
correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
-
delete your personal information;
-
object to or restrict certain processing;
-
withdraw consent you previously gave, at any time;
-
portability — receive your information in a usable format;
-
opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither);
-
non-discrimination — we will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
These rights come from laws including the EU and UK GDPR and US state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). To exercise any of them, email allwesternsky@gmail.com with a description of your request. We will respond within the time frame required by applicable law — generally 30 days under the GDPR and 45 days under the CCPA. We may need to ask for information to verify your identity before acting.
If you are in the EU or UK and believe we have not handled your request properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11. Third-Party Links
The Site links to external websites, tools, and publications. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Review their privacy policies before providing information to them.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site or the law changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted here. Please check back occasionally.
